Looking for some history and insight on what the area was like “once upon a time”, there are a few locations in Townsville that can help you with this. The first is the Museum of Tropical Queensland house a display of relics from a sunken British warship. Here you will learn of how this ship was an important role in Townsville history and see many relics of the time. Townsville Museum and Historical Society, offers two vast exhibition halls with artifacts relating to medical, artistic, technology and social history of the area. Maritime Museum of Townsville is known for its display of the SS Yonglala. This ship sunk in Townsville in 1911 with 122 passengers on board. The Maritime Museum has an adjacent car lot, with free parking for your rental.
A large portion of Townsville is parkland and even if you can't visit them all there are a few that you will want to make to to save some time for. The Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park has many of the features that you would expect a park to have, with the inclusion of a historic quarantine station from 1915. Magnetic Island National Park is a mountainous island covered with eucalyptus and coral reefs. Here you can swim, snorkel or explore all day. There is also the Townsville's largest outdoor activity park, Barra Fun Park, where you will find fishing dams, wakeboarding, a jumping pillow, playground and farm animals.
Before leaving Townsville be sure to stop into The Brewery and taste some of their made on site ales, enjoy a meal and mingle with the locals. This is a favorite spot for locals and tourists, alike, and it is a great way to start or end your holiday.

Many of our locations are unable to obtain insurance for under 21 year old drivers who are therefore required, prior to the start of the rental, to present an original Insurance Certificate of Currency - not a cover note - that indemnifies the replacement value of Budget's vehicle and third party property damage up to $20 million for any one occurrence. The certificate must be issued by a reputable insurer (as opposed to a broker) and is accepted at the discretion of the prospective location with which arrangements should be made directly.
